I volunteer at a nursing home near my house and this is my second summer doing so. When I arrived yesterday to volunteer, this old man was starring at me so then I looked away. Then, he waves at me so I wave back. Very soon after, he signals me over to him. I walk over to see what he may need and he holds out his hand asking for my hand. He takes my hand and kisses the top of my hand. And then he just stares at my face like its an old movie and the scene just stays the same. He says, "You are so beautiful." I said, "aww, thank you!" But, he didn't let me go. I would look the other direction and he would keep repeating, "You are such a pretty girl."

I realized that the older you are, the more you YOLO it up. Yes, this man may be about 80 years old in a nursing home living his boring life, but he's not afraid to say how he feels. Living in a nursing home is honestly like waiting to die which is beyond sad. But, it doesn't have to be. Old people are either a big splash of joy or a very sad, grey, gloomy cloud. It's all about YOUR PERSPECTIVE. So I would like to encourage you to BE OLD. Be confident in your decisions like Tony was to me. You will only experience this moment that you are experiencing right now, once. So, live this moment how you would want to live it if you were waiting for your last day.
