Why look in the mirror when God promises us that our beauty is not found in our outward appearance? We all experience days where we just check ourselves out in the mirror 24/7 and make sure we look as perfect as we can. Those days are so degrading. It makes you constantly aware of little flaws you may think you have. But, guess what? It does not matter AT ALL what you look like or how much "beauty" others my consider you to have. Now, trust me this same piece of advice has been told to me over and over again but it never really helps. I know this is true, but I don't BELIEVE this truly with all my heart; which makes me so so sad because believing these lies of being ugly, worthless, not beautiful, not enough, are all lies that are NOT TRUE.

They are lies that God tells us not to believe and lies therefore, that we should defog from our hoarder-filled, messy brains. It is not out fault that we believe these lies but to believe them is to go against what God tells us He has made of us. He makes us with purpose and intention and BEAUTY; HIS utmost beauty. 1 Peter 3:3-4 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment , such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." So, why on earth would how "pretty" or good you look have any importance to us and our lives?

Honestly, it's not a very simple question anyone could answer. The lies and sins of the world are mainly what encourages us to think in this comparing, unworthy type of feeling. We as people are CONSTANTLY around people most of our lives which makes it extremely easy to compare ourselves to others whether it be to their personality, their faith, or how they look. But know this, God has made you with His purpose. He shaped you before the world knew who you were. Whether it's that your parents tell you, "we wanted a girl and then we had you" or it be a boy that tells you that you are not "his type" or that you are "too fat", "too skinny", "too ugly", "too quiet', "too loud"; the list goes on and on, but these things stick with us like super glue and dig underneath the depths of our hearts and tear at us and eat us up like a disease. And it. Is. Not. Fun.

So, don't stare into the bathroom mirror every time you go to the bathroom as if staring at the "flaws" of yourself is going to instantly make them appear better if you move your hair more to one side or pull your pants up higher, whatever it is, because those. Flaws. Are. Not. Flaws. They are simply who you are and what God put on you when He shaped you and your spiritual gifts and amazing personality traits. You are wonderfully made so do not. I repeat, do not believe in the twisted lies that you tell yourself and that the world may encourage. Because, you are a human with beauty internally and you have purpose that God has given you. So I ask you this again, why look in the mirror when God promises us that our beauty is not found in our outward appearance?
