SING IN THE SHOWER

When is the last time you felt your stomach flutter a little out of the simple joy of hearing your favorite song? There's a difference between enjoying your favorite song and SINGING to your favorite song out of such genuine joy.

Let me just tell you that yesterday was a monumental day. I have always been the gal that sings loud in the shower, not afraid of my family hard core judging me and my singing abilities. (you don't have to be a good singer in the shower, just scream, home dawg!) Butttt not until yesterday, I realized I haven't sung along with my music for awhile. I always play my favorite jams while I shower. However, I never sing along. It can be nice to just listen to a song. But, I'm tellin' you I haven't sung along to a song in the shower at the top of my lungs in forever.

Yesterday, (April 22, 2020) was practically more important than my wedding day. I SANG SO LOUD IN THE SHOWER AGAIN!!! I sang so passionately to "Ophelia" by the Lumineers that I could physically feel my voice crack. I wasn't just exemplifying a strange, odd girl who is just a terrible singer. I was exemplifying how joyful life is. The passion we have for life is so important in our day to day lives. It sets the tone for HOW we live our lives. I didn't have that passion for a little.

As soon as I heard the first piano note of "Ophelia," my heart fell out of my body. It was so exciting to just simply hear a song that I love! Right now, the Corona Virus is consuming all of our lives in very different, yet sad ways. Although, (yes there's an although) there are remarkable, amazing things going on in our world. People are being so humbled, we are all becoming so much more grateful and appreciative, those in poverty during this time are being helped and people are being called to help those people, health care workers are embodying such great love. LOVE is being spread all throughout the world even as a virus is also being spread. Even as a virus controls our everyday and produces worldwide fear, we still have a loving God who still has complete control of this world and of our daily lives. Life is still amazing! We can still have PASSION for life. We can still have joy for what we might experience in our day.

I encourage you to draw closer to Jesus during this time and find trust and hope in His never-ending love. We are able to genuinely realize what we put our joy in during this time. Do you put your joy in God or do you put your joy in events, people, and work? I also encourage you to SING IN THE SHOWER! Feel the sad emotions, but LIVE the joyful emotions and moments in your life. Every season of life and every moment of life has a purpose in our walk of life and faith. Less Netflix, more late night phone calls. Less TV, more dancing in the kitchen. Less time cooped up in your room, more time appreciating the time with your family. Now is a season that serves as a purpose in every one of our live's.

Go sing in the shower, or even dance if you are really talented and won't slip ; )
